Miracles Have Happened Here, And Maybe Still Do

It took my 84 year old Belgian neighbor-friend to finally show me a walk right outside the door that leads to the Way of St James or Chemins de St Jacques de Compostelle. Prior to this introduction, I had no idea what was beyond the forest and had hardly heard of the Camino. Once again I am very thankful for the people who have appeared as guides to help settle into a new life here, it has proven to me that there are angels living on this earth and they find you when you need it.

There are many trails and directions to reach the Church of St James in Spain, and we are fortunate to have a few that run through the Gers. This stop in Bassoues is particularly interesting. The sign translates that early Christian’s came to wash before entering the church over the hill. The water is believed to have healing properties and many miracles have taken place here. I can not say what kind of miracles or even to the extent they were miraculous, but I will say that each time I visit, I feel stronger and lighter and healthier and maybe that in itself is a miracle of a certain kind.
